Scholarships and Tuition Assistance

Ursuline Academy continues our mission of serving a diverse group of girls in New Orleans. We are pleased to offer both financial assistance and scholarship opportunities. Tuition Assistance may be available to any qualifying student in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Scholarships are open to 5th graders and above. Students may qualify in the spring before the upcoming school year.

2023-24 Automatic Notification Scholarships

  • President's Merit Scholarship

    Incoming 8th grade / $5,000 / Renewable / Awarded annually
    Incoming 8th grade students who earned a High School Placement Test score of 98 or 99 and have a non-weighted 3.8 GPA or above are eligible for the President’s Merit Scholarship worth $5,000. Awarded students must maintain a weighted GPA of 3.8 and earn no semester grade lower than a B in order for the full scholarship amount to be renewed for grades 9-12. Qualifying students will be automatically notified via mail.
  • Principal's Merit Scholarship

    Incoming 8th grade / $4,500 / Renewable / Awarded annually
    Incoming 8th grade students who earned a High School Placement Test score of 96 or above and a non-weighted 3.6 GPA or above are eligible for the Principal’s Merit Scholarship worth $4,500. Awarded students must maintain a weighted GPA of 3.6 and earn no semester grade lower than a B in order for the full scholarship amount to be renewed for grades 9-12. Qualifying students will be automatically notified via mail.
  • Dean's Merit Scholarship

    Incoming 8th grade students who earned a High School Placement Test score of 94 or 95 and have a non-weighted 3.6 GPA or above are eligible for the Dean's Merit Scholarship worth $4,000. Awarded students must maintain a weighted GPA of 3.6 and earn no semester grade lower than a B in order for the full scholarship amount to be renewed for grades 9-12. Qualifying students will be automatically notified via mail.
To be considered for the following, applicants should complete the Ursuline Scholarship Application, as well as the following:
 
  • an essay with a minimum of 500 words that describes, in detail, an applicant’s educational goals and commitment to community service
  • one letter of recommendation from applicant’s current teacher
  • Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2023.

  • Alumnae Scholarship

    Incoming 8th or 9th grade / $500-$2,500 / Renewable / Awarded annually

    Ursuline Academy offers a total of two (2) Ursuline Alumnae Scholarships. These are partial tuition scholarships offered to incoming 8th and 9th grade students who are the daughter or granddaughter of an Ursuline Academy of New Orleans graduate.
  • Soeur Teresita Rivet, OSU Scholarship

    Rising 5th and 6th Grade / $1,000 / Renewable for 6th and 7th grades

    The Soeur Teresita Rivet, OSU Scholarship is awarded to a Middle School student of Ursuline Academy and is renewable. The student must demonstrate excellent academic performance and a commitment to community service.
  • Peyroux-Taylor Scholarship

    Incoming 8th Grade / $2,500 / Renewable /
    Available school year 2024-25

    Ursuline Academy offers a total of two (2) Peyroux-Taylor Scholarships. The Peyroux-Taylor Scholarship is a $2,500 partial tuition award. In order to maintain and renew this scholarship, awarded students must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.6 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, have good conduct, and embrace the Ursuline motto of Serviam by completing required service hours each year.
  • Superior Energy Inc. Scholarship

    Incoming 8th Grade / $2,500 / Renewable / Available school years 2024-25 and 2026-27

    Ursuline Academy offers a total of two (2) Superior-Energy Inc. Scholarships. The Superior Energy Inc. Scholarship is a $2,500 partial tuition award. In order to maintain and renew this scholarship, awarded students must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.6 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, have good conduct, and embrace the Ursuline motto of Serviam by completing required service hours each year.
  • Helen and Vincent McGrail Scholarship

    Incoming 8th grade / $500-$2,500 / Renewable / Awarded annually

    The Helen & Vincent McGrail Need-Based Scholarship is a partial tuition award and varies from $500 to $2,500. In order to maintain and renew this scholarship, awarded students must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.0 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, have good conduct, and embrace the Ursuline motto of Serviam by completing required service hours each year.
  • Gironde Merit Scholarship

    Incoming 8th grade / $1,000 / One-time award / Awarded annually

    Incoming 8th grade students may apply for a Gironde Merit Scholarship, a one-time partial tuition award worth $1,000. This award was established to recognize a student’s exemplary academic performance in current and prior school years.
  • Emmanuel & Madeleine Blessey Scholarship

    Incoming 8th Grade/ $3,000 /Renewable / Available school year 2026-27

    The Emmanuel and Madeleine Blessey Scholarship is a $3,000 partial tuition award. In order to maintain and renew this scholarship, awarded students must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.6 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, have good conduct, and embrace the Ursuline ideal of Serviam by completing required service hours each year.
  • Valda Gisevius Memorial Scholarship

    Incoming 8th or 9th Grade/ $2,300 / Renewable / Available school year 2023-24

    The Valda Gisevius Memorial Scholarship is a $2,300 partial tuition award. In order to maintain and renew this scholarship, awarded students must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.6 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, have good conduct, and embrace the Ursuline motto of Serviam by completing required service hours each year.
  • The Patricia Sutton Cromiller Scholarship

    Incoming 8th or 9th Grade / $2,000 / Renewable / Available school year 2023-24  

    The Patricia Sutton Cromiller Scholarship is a $2,000 partial tuition award for a rising 8th or 9th grade student. The scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and is based on financial need, leadership, and academic excellence. In order to maintain and renew this scholarship, the awarded student must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.6 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, demonstrate a commitment to our core values, and embrace the Ursuline motto of Serviam by completing all service responsibilities.
  • McNay Opportunity Scholarship

    Middle and High Schools / Amount varies / One-time Award / Awarded annually

    The McNay Opportunity Scholarship provides financial assistance to current Ursuline Academy students wishing to participate in extracurricular academic activities, including but not limited to Duke TIP and study abroad programs. Scholarships are distributed based on financial need or merit, as determined by the donor.
  • Coleman Family STEM Scholarship

    Incoming or rising 11th or 12th grade / $500 / One-time award / Awarded annually

    11th and 12th grade students may apply for a Coleman Family STEM Scholarship, a one-time partial tuition award worth $500.
  • Deborah Augustine Elam Leadership Scholarship

    11th and 12th Grade / $1,500 / Awarded annually to an 11th grader, renewable for 12th grade

    The Deborah Augustine Elam Leadership Scholarship is awarded to one 11th grade student and one 12th grade student who shows exemplary leadership both inside and outside of the Ursuline community. The recipient must maintain a 3.6 average and participate in at least one extracurricular activity at Ursuline Academy.
  • Joan Gisevius Johnson Scholarship

    All High School Students / $5,000 / Renewable / Available school year 2023-24

    The Joan Gisevius Johnson Scholarship is a $5,000 partial tuition award. This scholarship at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and is based on financial need, leadership, and academic excellence.  In order to maintain and renew this scholarship, awarded students must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.6 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, have good conduct, and embrace the Ursuline motto of Serviam by completing required service hours each year.
  • Mary Ann Valentino Scholarship

    All High School Students / $1,000 / Renewable / Available school year 2024-25

    The Mary Ann Valentino Scholarship is a $1,000 partial tuition award. This scholarship at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and is based on financial need, leadership, and academic excellence.  In order to maintain and renew this scholarship, awarded students must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.6 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, have good conduct, and embrace the Ursuline motto of Serviam by completing required service hours each year.
  • Lucille Ash Flick Scholarship

    All High School students / $3,000 / Renewable / Available school year 2027-2028

    The Lucille Ash Flick Scholarship is a $3,000 partial tuition award. This scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and is based on financial need. Other considerations will include the student’s commitment to Ursuline’s core values and academic excellence. In order to maintain and renew this scholarship, awarded students must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.6 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, have good conduct, and embrace the Ursuline motto of Serviam by completing required service hours each year.
  • The Louis and Margueritte May Scholarship

    All High School students / $2,000 / Renewable / Available school year 2026-2027

    The Louis and Margueritte May Scholarship is a $2,000 partial tuition award. This scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and is based on financial need, leadership and academic excellence. In order to maintain and renew this scholarship, awarded students must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.6 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, have good conduct, and embrace the Ursuline motto of Serviam by completing required service hours each year.
  • Trahan Family Scholarship

    All High School students / $2,500 / Renewable / Available school year 2025-2026

    The Trahan Family Scholarship is a $2,500 partial tuition award.  This scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and is based on financial need, leadership, and academic excellence. To maintain and renew this scholarship, awarded students must continue academic excellence by earning a cumulative weighted 3.6 GPA or above, earn no semester grade lower than a C, have good conduct, and embrace the Ursuline ideal of Serviam by completing required service hours each year.

Tuition Assistance

Blackbaud Financial Aid Management deadline: March 31, 2023

Available to all Ursuline Academy students in K – 12th Grades
Ursuline Academy offers a limited amount of partial tuition assistance on the basis of financial need. The school cannot guarantee that the amount of tuition assistance a family needs can be provided. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA, complete their required service hours (for Religion class), and each student or her family must complete 10 additional hours of service through Ursuline Academy’s Work Study Program.

All families must apply for financial assistance through BFAM for Parents (www.smartaidforparents.com) by March 31, 2023.

How to Apply Online for Tuition Aid
To access the online application, please go to www.smartaidforparents.com. For first time applicants, you will need to register as a new user. From there you will be prompted to enter a valid e-mail address along with a password of your choice. It is important your e-mail address is correct, as email is the first line of communication.  For returning applicants, simply log in with your previous year’s login information.
