Serviam in Action

On January 25th, the entire Academy celebrated the Feast Day of St. Angela Merici, our foundress. Living out our motto of Serviam, meaning “I will serve,” each grade level went off campus to serve in our community. From the youngest in the Early Childhood Learning Center, to the oldest of the Senior Skips, students were encouraged to get out of their comfort zones and full-heartedly serve others. Even members of the Parents Club got involved. It was a quiet day on campus, but you may have seen some Ursuline girls out and about throughout the city. Some notable accomplishments include the juniors packaging over 1,600 pounds of rice at Second Harvest Food Bank and the seniors planting over 250 tree saplings. Here is a list of where each grade level spent their day giving back to the community they love:

Early Childhood: Decorating cakes and making cards for the Ursuline Sisters

Elementary School:
  • 1st & 2nd Grade: Lambeth House
  • 3rd Grade: Sunrise Assisted Living Center
  • 4th Grade: Our Lady of Wisdom
  • 5th Grade: Inspired Living Center
  • 6th Grade: Kingsley House
  • 7th Grade: City Park: Couturie Forest

High School:
  • 8th Grade: St. Margaret’s at Belleville Assisted Living & Chateau de Notre Dame
  • 9th Grade: St. Benedict the Moor School
  • 10th Grade: St. Michael’s Special School
  • 11th Grade: Second Harvest, Ozanam Inn, New Orleans Mission
  • 12th Grade: Woodlands Conservancy
