Honoring St. Angela Merici

While our Ursuline girls were unable to go out into the community to serve on this feast day of Ursuline foundress, St. Angela Merici, they kept community in their hearts and with each other. This special day began with Mass where we recognized the faithful service of our Ursuline Sisters. While juniors and 5th grade students were in The National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, others participated via live stream receiving holy communion in their classrooms.

St. Angela's words, "live in harmony, united together, all of one heart and one will," were echoed by our celebrant Fr. Sidney Speaks as he said: "I believe that this school has boldly been proclaiming a truth that the world does not want to be bold about. You're living a truth that has not been lived. It's a truth that we must be together. Live unity." A simple reminder of this unity was displayed in the colorful buttons given to everyone on campus.

Together, our Ursuline community celebrated both this important feast along with 1727 Day - a day to honor the Academy's founding year. From Toddler 1 to 12th grade, students made sweets and cards for our Sisters, cleaned up around campus, organized the art room, wrote notes to alumnae, collected supplies for the homeless, shared the gift of music with our receptionist Ms. Carmel, and made care packages for the U.S. Navy just to name a few. At the end of the day, we prayed as one Academy - asking God's blessing on each member of our Ursuline family.
