Food Drive Success!

Thank you to our faculty, staff, and Ursuline girls who collected 3,370 lbs. of food during our annual food drive. A very special thank you to the junior class who helped organize this effort and worked tirelessly to collect, sort, and box all of the food! The juniors were also the largest participants, bringing in more than 1200 lbs. of beans! The food will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank to feed those in need in southeast Louisiana.

In preparation for hosting the food drive, the Class of 2022 created lessons for our youngest students on campus - teaching them why it is important to help people who are in need. Juniors would normally visit early childhood and elementary classrooms to present these lessons, but weren't able to this year with social distancing restrictions. Instead, they had teachers present the lessons on their behalf. Each lesson included a video of the juniors talking to the students or reading a story to them. One group even wrote and illustrated their own story about a hungry hamster who gets help from his friends. Through this experience, our Ursuline girls gained a deeper knowledge of what it means to live the Academy's motto of "Serviam: I will serve" in the community.
