Ursulettes Dance Team Amazed Judges at Cajun Dome

The Ursulettes Dance Team amazed judges with their Pom, Jazz, Trio and Open routines during the American All-Star Louisiana State Dance/Drill Team Championship held January 16 at the Cajun Dome in Lafayette.

Ursuline took fifth in Pom, third in Jazz, with a pair of second place finishes in the division open and the overall open, which includes competitors from all divisions across the state.

“This was only the second showing for the Ursulettes’ at a state competition and the talents they displayed were undeniable,” said Ursulettes Head Coach Janaé N. McCann. “Competitive dance builds on key Ursuline values including community spirit, teamwork, dedication, and confidence. These values were on full display at the American All-Star competition. Our girls worked incredibly hard, and I am so unbelievably proud of them.”

Rising 3rd through 7th grade girls are invited to join us for a summer camp in the Summer of 2022. For more information contact Athletic Director Harry Mason at hmason@uanola.org. Click here to register for summer dance camp.

About Ursuline Dance:
The Ursuline Academy dance program is designed to provide students with more opportunities to expand their passion for dance through jazz, hip-hop, ballet and contemporary classes. We focus on delivering a more in-depth dance education that emphasizes the importance of a strong technical foundation and continually builds on previous skills.

Student members of our competitive programs learn from our professional staff as well as notable guest instructors working in the professional dance industry. Dancers attend competitions where they receive constructive feedback from respected judges on how they can improve their performance. The competitive dance structure helps students to build self-confidence and understand the importance of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. We encourage our girls to set and achieve their goals while instilling positive values of teamwork and commitment.
