The Annual Bach Contest took place at Ursuline Academy this past Saturday, March 10. Piano and strings students from across New Orleans are invited to compete in various groups for awards.
We're very proud that four Ursuline girls were awarded in this year's competition, in both strings and piano!
In piano, Khue Huynh placed 3rd in Group 8 and Marbella Maristany placed 1st in Group 4.
Carmela Juan was awarded first place in Group 1 and Soraya Morris-Parker placed 1st in Group 2 of the Strings Division. Soraya will also be performing with the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra Sunday, March 18th.
Overall, local students John Kwon and Darian Eugene won for piano and strings, respectively. Each was awarded the Sr. Elizabeth Marie Landry Award, in addition to two symphony tickets donated by Hall Piano Company and the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra. The grand prize is named in honor of Sr. Elizabeth Marie Landry, O.S.U. who founded the Bach Competition in 1960.
