Theater Collaboration with New Orleans Opera

High School's upper-level theatre students had the opportunity to collaborate with the New Orleans Opera to create new musical works. The Opera's Director of Education, Dr. William Mouat, worked with the students on using music to add subtext to their original devised theatre pieces. The two student-created pieces focused on issues they feel are important to young women today: self-respect, and the dangers of social media. Later in the week, students from across the academy had the opportunity to see the Opera's touring production of Little Red Riding Hood by Seymour Barab, followed by a Q & A session led by Dr. Moaut.
